All of America is teeming to see Lionel Messi join Miami. But no contract was signed, and the Argentine’s announcement to leave PSG for MLS surprised everyone.
It’s a whole continent that has been delighted for a week to see that Lionel Messi will sign in Major League Soccer. The Argentinian prodigy therefore leaves PSG at the end of his contract, and leaves aside FC Barcelona, who dreamed of a return but could not offer him guarantees. The bond of trust was broken with Joan Laporta, who despite his fine words, could not give the Messi clan certainty that everything was going to be completed quickly. And that’s what La Pulga wanted above all for its future. While he confirmed in his recent statements to the press that several European clubs were courting him and that he had a huge offer from Saudi Arabia, he made the decision to join Florida, where he owns real estate and where he saw himself living at the end of his career.

But for this end of career where football takes second place, Lionel Messi left no room for suspense. He made his choice and announced it, when absolutely nothing was signed. It is indeed a bit of panic in the United States since the world champion revealed that he would play in Miami next season, since absolutely nothing is ready.
Last negotiations a little more tense?
At all levels, no agreement has been reached, and this could even influence the final negotiations. Difficult indeed after this announcement, to go back and discuss with solid arguments, knowing that he himself decided to announce his future club and his signature. So he leaves his lawyers and representatives to deal with that. Adidas and Apple TV+ have of course gone all out to allow MLS and Miami to offer a salary never seen on the other side of the Atlantic with interest on the results in the Argentinian’s pocket. The latter will also have income from all jersey or marketing sales, for a variable salary but estimated by the American press at 30 million euros per year. It must be said that everything is going to take a crazy turn, the prices of tickets for Miami games having already been multiplied by 10. But for the moment, his lawyers are trying to complete an agreement which is not sealed, and on which he is impossible to return after the player’s big announcement of his future signing at Inter Miami. A very premature speech, and which will certainly materialize all the same by an officialization in the days to come, but which shows that Lionel Messi is indeed the only decision maker in this affair.
