Criticized for his work, Bruno Cheyrou intended to respond by attracting big names to Olympique Lyonnais. The hiring manager expected to impress his superiors this summer. But owner John Textor did not give him time to dig his ambitious, or rather doomed, tracks.

Bruno Cheyrou is now fixed. In a recent interview with the newspaper L’Equipe, Olympique Lyonnais owner John Textor assured that the head of recruitment would not be fired. The leader will simply have to change position and integrate the company Eagle Football. This is probably not the scenario hoped for by the main interested party who, thanks to former president Jean-Michel Aulas, could claim the post of sports director.

Highly criticized for his recruitment, and with this promotion in sight, Bruno Cheyrou therefore aimed to hit hard this summer. The recruiter had actually prepared a shortlist made up of big names at the end of the contract. According to information from Foot Mercato, the leader saw himself succeeding the big blow Roberto Firmino!

Cheyrou too ambitious

The striker is about to leave Liverpool and Bruno Cheyrou thought he could attract him, and associate him with Alexandre Lacazette for a formidable attack. Eventually, the Brazilian is expected to fly to Saudi Arabia. As for the midfield, the recruitment manager had checked the names of Daichi Kamada, who left to leave Frankfurt for AC Milan, and Youri Tielemans, not retained by Leicester City.

Finally, for the central hinge, Bruno Cheyrou had thought of the Frenchman Evan Ndicka, also at the end of his contract in Frankfurt, and the Englishman Chris Smalling, part of José Mourinho at Roma. Suffice to say that the Lyon recruiter had been ambitious, probably a little too much. To believe that his plans have not convinced the new management which should appoint Matthieu Louis-Jean to his post.
