Vincent Labrune has set himself a very ambitious objective for the amount of the next Ligue 1 TV rights, for which the call for tenders will be launched at the start of the school year.

Next September, the Professional Football League will launch calls for tenders for the television rights of Ligue 1 from the 2024 season. The vagueness remains on the participation of Canal + and Amazon, current broadcasters of the French championship , to this new tender. On the side of the LFP, on the other hand, optimism reigns. In an interview with the newspaper L’Equipe, the president of the body Vincent Labrune said that he hoped for a sum of around one billion euros for the back-to-school tender before reaching 1.6 billion euros by 2027.

An ambition fully assumed by the former president of Olympique de Marseille in the columns of the national daily. “With CVC, we have been working since last September on the call for tenders which will be launched this fall, probably in September. We are relatively calm. Our objective is 1.6 billion euros in annual revenue in 2027. The real objective for L1 is that.” detailed Vincent Labrune, before continuing.

Vincent Labrune sees big for Ligue 1

“For this one (the call for tenders for the start of the school year), we are sticking to the business plan drawn up in the company of CVC with overall audiovisual revenues (domestic and international) of around one billion euros. We are aiming for around one billion euros, even if the macro-economic and financial context is delicate. It may be a little optimistic, but we have a significant margin for improvement on the international stage. In France, it is a little more complicated, especially when the major player, Canal+, does not wish to participate. But we work, we see people” indicated Vincent Labrune. The president of the LFP wants to be relatively optimistic about the amount of Ligue 1 television rights for the coming seasons. And this despite the total vagueness about the participation of Canal +, a major player in TV rights for the French championship for years and which has been very upset by the management of rights since the Covid and Mediapro episodes.
