In the final part of our look at the best bits of 2011 we have some fantastic clips to show you. Gary Linton starts us off, and Gary is an example of what we were looking to achieve here at French Football Weekly.
“It was the first full Ligue1 match I’ve watched and from that moment on I continued to watch as I thought to myself. Hey this is a pretty damn good game. From then on FFW has just got me so much into French football and I’m now a follower of Ligue 1.”

Kicking off the next selection of favourite moments we return to the “Nouveau Riche” Paris St Germain. With the new millions in the bank the capital club bought the services of Argentine Javier Pastore and Ross Mackiewicz from the 1970 PSG blog purrs over “El Flaco’s” skills.
“For me, it has to be the superior football orchestrated by Javier Pastore throughout September and October. He lit up Ligue 1 significantly and his goal against Montpellier in particular demonstrated his technical superiority.
Also, his opener against Lyon which shook the Parc des Princes on its very foundations due to the euphoria from the Parisian faithful who celebrated it as if it was the winning goal in a cup final. That night proved PSG were well and truly back at the forefront of French football.”
Our friend Martin, @polyesterfreak on twitter also agrees with PSG being the main talking point of the year.
“The Qatari take-over of Paris is a defining moment for French soccer. Big names, salaries on par with the other major leagues and a renewed attractiveness of the league. “

Resident PSG fan Jonathan Johnson, like most PSG fans has enjoyed the latter part of 2011. The money invested by QSI has created a new force in French football and nothing showed that more than the 2-0 victory over Lyon at the Parc des Princes.
“The Lyon match itself was a pretty special occasion and not just for PSG. Probably the best build up to a game and atmosphere this season so far. The Lyon game had it all!”

To start us of Andrew Gibney picks his moment of 2011:
“It has to be Eden Hazard’s goal against Marseille in the Stade Velodrome back in March. Obviously both teams going for the title. This is the goal that started Lille’s charge to Le Championnat. This gave the side the belief to go on and lift their first title in over 50 years.”

Reports this morning have suggested that Antoine Kombouaré, manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has been told that his services are no longer required at the club. Kombouaré, who has been managing the club since 2009, is seemingly not favoured by the new owners, with Director of Football Leonardo looking to replace the Frenchman with a bigger name. A source close to the club has told AFP:
“Antoine was informed that he was being sacked today by Leonardo.”
Last night, PSG moved back to the top of the Ligue 1 table following a 1-0 away win over in-form St Etienne. “No agreement with any football club has been reached. Any talk of a deal is premature. David is presently considering his options.”
It had been reported that the 36 year-old Englishman had agreed an 18-month deal with the capital city club, though these reports have now been denied by Beckham’s representatives.
