Troyes scored its first victory of the season in Ligue 2 by beating FC Metz this Saturday (2-1, 7th day). A little against all expectations.

Adrift since the start of the season, Estac woke up this Saturday. While hosting FC Metz as part of the seventh day of Ligue 2, Stéphane Dumont’s men surprised everyone by winning against a team which had until then not conceded the slightest defeat in championship (2-1). What to regain a little hope?

In any case, this first unexpected success will do the greatest good to the Trojan players and supporters. Pape Ba’s opening score just before the break (42nd) brought a smile to the public at the Aube stadium for the first time. A smile faded as the end of the game approached, when Ismael Traoré equalized for Metz (1-1, 78th). But this time, the Estac did not sink and reacted immediately.

Returns in an old boat

As an old hand, Renaud Ripart, who entered five minutes earlier, took advantage of an opposing foul to convert the winning penalty (2-1, 80th). Enough to allow his team to catch a little bit of fresh air since it left last place to now occupy sixteenth place, synonymous with a play-off at the end of the season. But all this is still very far away.

By attacking, Troyes beat FC Metz who suddenly fell to fifth position. A little earlier in the day, Paris FC took advantage of its success on the pitch at Red Star (1-3) to take the leadership position.
