Former Parisian, Mamadou Sakho returned to the difficult divorce between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain.

After seven seasons at PSG, Kylian Mbappé chose to turn the page this summer and realize his childhood dream by joining Real Madrid. A separation which was painful, the Parisian leaders not having appreciated that the captain of the Blues decided to leave free, therefore without transfer compensation. The top scorer in the history of the capital club did not receive the tribute he deserved during his last match at the Parc des Princes.

Asked about Mbappé’s departure from PSG on Friday in the J-1 show on Canal+ Sport Afrique, Mamadou Sakho deplored the way the story ended. The one who now plays in Georgia, at Torpedo Koutaïss, regrets that the Parisian club does not know how to say “goodbye” to its stars.

Sakho: “You have to accept it and know how to say goodbye”

“PSG knows how to welcome but has difficulty saying goodbye. I think it’s a shame but it’s a fact. When we see the reception of Ibrahimovic, of Kylian (Mbappé), of Neymar, of Messi, and the way in which they leave, it makes me feel a pang in my heart. I see a football club as a family. It’s like celebrating a birth. When a player arrives, we are all happy. When that child with whom you spent years grows up and decides to leave the family cocoon, you have to accept it and know how to say goodbye. “, indicated the 34-year-old defender.

And to add: “ When I presented the champion trophy to PSG last season, I had a pang in my heart to see this fantastic player leave through the back door with all that was said about him. I personally found it a shame. You have to know how to separate business from football, warns the left-hander. Kylian Mbappé is a diamond with value. He earns astronomical sums but he generates just as much. Nobody earns a euro if it’s not worth it. That’s up to his parents, his advisors and the club’s leaders. I think that Kylian, as a football player, entered every Parisian home, every house in France. It made young people in training centers and schools dream. We must thank him for that and realize how lucky we were to have had him in our stadium and in our capital. »
