Far from the atmosphere of his previous clubs, Martin Terrier, the French international who arrived this summer at Bayer Leverkusen, was pleasantly surprised by the involvement of Xabi Alonso in training.

Xabi Alonso’s work at the head of Bayer Leverkusen is unanimous, and Martin Terrier, the club’s new offensive recruit, is not immune to this enthusiasm. In an interview for
RMCthe French striker shared his admiration for the training methods of the Spanish coach and his staff upon his arrival in the Bundesliga.

“I was impressed in the first training sessions by the intensity shown by the players but also by the coach. In my previous clubs, often, the training sessions were led by the assistants and Xabi Alonso is there 100%, he is the one who leads the session with his assistants but it is mainly him who has the floor. We really feel a lot of intensity in the sessions”explained the defector from Stade Rennais.

Terrier was also won over by Xabi Alonso’s tactical approach. “The main tactical orientations are to have control of the ball and to provoke mistakes from the opponent. (…) I was also impressed by this idea of mastering the meeting. We concentrate much more on our game than on that of our opponent. The coach wants to give us this impression of superiority compared to the opponent”he added.

Currently second in the Bundesliga after four days (three wins and one defeat), Leverkusen will travel to Bayern Munich this Saturday for a shock that promises to be electric.
