Endrick, the big warning

Endrick Felipe has had a decisive start to his Real Madrid career, even though he has only played a few minutes.

He scored on his La Liga debut against Real Valladolid on matchday two, and repeated the feat against Stuttgart in midweek. His last appearance came on Saturday against Espanyol, when he won a penalty converted by Kylian Mbappé.

Endrick is yet to start a game for Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti opting to phase him in gradually. Diario AS director Tomas Roncero has warned the teenager to be patient, as his chance will come – and it may be sooner rather than later, with Alaves on Tuesday tipped as a possible starting opportunity.

Sooner than later for Endrick

Endrick is parachuted into the Bernabeu. I think he will start on Tuesday, but I don’t dare say who he will replace. Ancelotti shows the way, just like Guler: you are young, you are very good, but this is Real Madrid. He tries to make Endrick understand that to play at Real Madrid you have to earn your place little by little, like with Guler. He wants to make the most of the 15 minutes he gives him and show all his talent because one day the opportunity will present itself.

“I think he will go further but he must be patient otherwise he will make a mistake, because he also has Mbappé in front of him.” Ancelotti has a history of playing it safe with youngsters, and that was absolutely the case with Guler last season. Real Madrid will benefit from this in the long run, as Endrick will continue to progress little by little without the risk of injuries slowing his progress.
