Harry Kane has been tipped for an unexpected career move to the NFL at the age of 35, with Tom Brady set to “open the doors” for the Bayern Munich and England star.

Kane recently celebrated his 100th cap for the England national team in memorable fashion by scoring twice in England’s comfortable 2-0 win over Finland in the UEFA Nations League. However, at 31, Kane is aware that his footballing days are likely coming to an end and that the NFL could be an alternative career option that could keep him on the pitch, albeit in a different role.

Kane and Brady share a unique friendship rooted in their love of American football. Their relationship began with casual conversations on Instagram, sparked by Kane’s admiration for the NFL and its legendary quarterback. The English forward, fascinated by Brady’s longevity, admitted that he had already taken Brady’s cue to prolong his career as long as possible, like his idol, who won his seventh Super Bowl at the age of 43.

A great friendship with Brady

Speaking to talkSPORT, journalist Henry Winter discussed Kane’s possible move to the NFL. He said:
“I think Harry Kane will be a kicker in the NFL at 35. He’s 31 now. I think he’ll obviously have a great time at Bayern Munich, win things there. But I can seriously see him doing that. Honestly, I can see Harry Kane doing that because he loves America and he loves playing in the NFL. He’s talked about it before and I’m sure Tom Brady could open doors for him. »

Kane’s desire to transition to the NFL has been public knowledge for some time. As early as 2019, Kane expressed interest in becoming a kicker, telling ESPN that he ”
would definitely like to try” to take up the challenge in the “dix or twelve next years”. More recently, in 2023, he admitted that an NFL career would be “ something very special » because he’s already gotten some pro tips from Brady.

Kane even named one of his dogs after Tom Brady, showing his admiration for the former New England Patriots quarterback. His other dog is named after Russell Wilson, another highly regarded NFL quarterback, further emphasizing his connection to the sport and its icons.
