OM should very soon register the extension of the young Darryl Bakola, one of the most promising elements of the club.

Everything is going well at Olympique de Marseille as the first international break of the season begins. The Marseille club has collected 7 points out of a possible 9, with Mason Greenwood already the top scorer in Ligue 1 (5 goals) and great collective promise for the rest of the first season with Roberto De Zerbi at the helm. Even on a pitch where Marseille have only too rarely shone in recent years, namely their ability to retain their most promising talents, the atmosphere is great.

According to Massilia Zone, OM will record during this end-of-summer break the extension of one of the two biggest nuggets in its pool: Darryl Bakola. While Enzo Sternal, the other youngster whose future seems bright, signed a new lease a few weeks ago, Bakola had been in the waiting room since the beginning of the summer. And with what had happened to certain cases in the past, such as those of Isaac Lihadji or Boubacar Kamara, both of whom left without compensation, the fear of seeing the U17 international midfielder imitate them was real.

Like Sternal

Barring any last-minute twists, the 16-year-old, a goalscorer during the preparation and already appreciated by the Marseille staff, will sign a new contract and join Roberto De Zerbi’s expanded squad. His teammate Sternal has already had a taste of the pitch in Ligue 1 since the Italian’s arrival and should not be out of the rotation. Bakola, who learned his trade at Racing Club de France and Red Star, hopes to experience the same situation.

Darryl Bakola was part of the OM team that won the 2024 Coupe Gambardella, after a run in which the Olympians notably eliminated Paris Saint-Germain.
