It was a real shock and very sad news that arrived from Turkey on Saturday. A member of the management of the Adanaspor club, the former footballer from the Paris Saint-Germain training center, Sol Bamba, died at the age of thirty-nine. Hospitalized on Friday after suffering from a malaise, the man succumbed a few hours later. The exact cause of his death has not been revealed.
Parisian “Titi”, who had a long career as a central defender, chose to leave PSG prematurely to try his luck abroad. Soulemayne Bamba then went on to have a series of experiences, never staying more than two seasons in the same place. First in Scotland at Dunfermline and Hibernian, then in England at Leicester, in Turkey at Trabzonspor and in Italy at Palermo. Back in England at Leeds, then heading to Wales for what would be his longest adventure, at Cardiff City, before finishing at Middlesbrough.

The reaction to the news of his passing has been overwhelming in England, particularly among Championship clubs. Cardiff were one of the first to post a farewell message on social media: ” It is with great sadness that we learned tonight (Saturday) of the passing of club legend Sol Bamba. As a player and manager, Sol’s impact on our club was immeasurable. He was a hero to us all, a leader in every dressing room and a true gentleman. Our thoughts are with his friends, family and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love Sol. »
Whether it was the clubs of Plymouth, West Brom, Fulham, Wycombe, Port Vale, Watford, Derby, Millwall, Leyton Orient and many others, the tributes were numerous and unanimous in saluting the qualities of Sol Bamba as a man.
