Marcus Rashford, once considered the future of Manchester United, is going through a difficult time. Former club star Dwight Yorke is calling for a response from the England striker.

Are we witnessing the decline of Marcus Rashford? If we are to believe his performances since last season, the English striker does indeed seem to be in difficulty. His disappointing 2023-24 season (43 matches, 8 goals and 6 assists) has also cost him his place in the England national team for Euro 2024 in Germany, where he was not called up by former manager Gareth Southgate.

The Red Devils’ number 10’s recent performances, notably against Fulham (1-0 win) and Brighton (2-1 defeat), in the opening two days of the Premier League, have left many observers worried, including former United striker Dwight Yorke. The former Trinidad international was convinced that Rashford would want to redeem himself after being left out of the European Nations Championship. However, he is looking with astonishment at the current situation of the Manchester boy.

Rashford is no longer having fun

“I’m sure after being left out of the England squad last year, you’d expect him to come back with a bit of fire in his belly and get back on track after a mediocre season by his standards. Marcus Rashford is the only one who can pull himself out of this slump.”he explained to the microphone of talkSPORT.

Yorke remains convinced that Rashford can return to his best if he really wants to. “You can have the best coaches around him, but he has to have that burning desire to get back in the saddle. We know he has all the talent and all the ability.”he assured.

“But if he’s not willing to make that effort and bounce back from his most mediocre season last year, he’s not going to get back to that level. He has to want it.. I have defended Marcus many times, but he seems unhappy. For some reason he doesn’t seem to enjoy playing football as much as he used to,” judged the man with 66 goals and 32 assists in 152 appearances for MU.
