FC Barcelona are interested in RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan. The Catalan club hopes to steal the show from Atlético Madrid and Liverpool and get their hands on the player.
The Foot Mercato website indicates that FC Barcelona has made a request for Simakan, who is tied to RB Leipzig until the summer of 2027. The Catalan club appreciates him because he can play both in central defense and in right defense. In short, the ideal understudy for his compatriot Jules Koundé.
A replacement for Koundé at Barça?
Barça also sees in Simakan an alternative to Inigo Martinez, who has contacts with the Saudi team Al Ittihad. The player has a buyout clause in his contract that amounts to 50 million euros.
By sounding out Simakan, Flick shows that he has nothing against the French. Evil tongues have suggested that he is not a big fan of them, given that he successively refused Kingsley Coman and N’Golo Kanté before pushing Clément Lenglet out.
