It was the match of the day in the Premier League. This Saturday afternoon, Arsenal managed to escape the Aston Villa trap. The Gunners won 2-0 against the Villans.

An important victory against a championship leader who had resisted the Londoners last season. Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey found the back of the net and offered the three points to their partners. The Gunners have 6 points and join Manchester City in the standings.

For Unai Emery’s men, it’s a bit of a disappointment. Aston Villa players had plenty of opportunities to make the difference but they missed out on a great David Raya in the Arsenal goal. Villa have 3 points.

Arsenal make the difference in 10 minutes

It was a game that neither team should have lost. But it was Arsenal who came out on top. Mikel Arteta’s players broke the opposition’s deadlock after the break.

Coming into play a few minutes after the hour mark in place of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard immediately proved decisive. For his first ball, Trossard received a cross from the right side of Saka. The Belgian propelled it with one touch of his right foot into the small left net of Emiliano Martinez (1-0, 67th).

A goal that hurts Amadou Onana’s teammates who had a huge opportunity a few minutes earlier. Olie Watkins narrowly missed opening the scoring but Raya made a saving save.

Ten minutes after Trossard’s opening goal, the Londoners would hammer home the point and make the break. The Ghanaian midfielder was served by Bukayo Saka at the edge of the area. The number 5 unleashed a shot without control which went into the Argentinian goal (2-0, 77e).

A victory that is good for Arsenal, who are full of confidence and in terms of accounting before facing Brighton on the next day.
