The second day of the Premier League continued this Saturday with a multiplex of five matches. A few minutes after Manchester United’s defeat at Brighton (2-1), rivals Manchester City welcomed promoted Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium. A match that Pep Guardiola’s troops largely dominated and controlled (4-1). It only took a quarter of an hour to get out of the way with goals from Erling Haaland (10th sp, 16th, 88th) and Kevin De Bruyne (14th). Samuel Szmodics’ opening goal was only a slim hope (7th). In another match, Everton traveled to London to challenge Tottenham. But despite the good news of the upcoming takeover by John Textor’s Eagle group, the Toffees fell to Spurs (7-0) with goals from Yves Bissouma (14th), Cristian Romero (71st) and Son Heung-min (25th, 77th).
A few kilometres from Tottenham’s stadium, on the pitch at Selhurst Park Stadium, Crystal Palace lost to West Ham (0-2) following goals from Tomáš SouÄŤek (67th) and Jarrod Bowen (72nd). As for Nottingham Forest, Nuno EspĂrito Santo’s players had to settle for the minimum (0-1) thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White (70th). In the last match of the afternoon, Fulham and Leicester crossed swords on the pitch at Craven Cottage. A hard-fought game between the two teams with a victory snatched by the locals (2-1) who knew how to react after Wout Faes’ equaliser (40th). The Cottagers’ scorers were Emile Smith-Rowe (18th) and Alex Iwobi (70th). Another busy day across the Channel with solid battles.
