Since the beginning of July, Dele Alli has been on the transfer market as a free agent, following the end of his contract with Everton. However, the English attacking midfielder may not have yet turned the page on his adventure with the Toffees.
At a press conference, Everton manager Sean Dyche announced that the former Tottenham player would have a final chance to stay at the Liverpool club, through closed-door trials.
An extended pre-season
“I told him and I maintain that the first thing is to get back on the field, to run freely, to play, to train and all that follows. We will have to wait and see what happens. He is close, but he is not there yet.”judged the English manager.
Dyche went on to say: “(…) There is still a programme of matches to follow. It is not just about getting back in shape and running with the first team group, he then has to play. When you’ve been out for that long you need a fitness period. That might be three or four games. It’s a bit like an extended pre-season, let’s say.”
