A cry of terror. During training on the eve of the match, Eduardo Camavinga was injured just before the European Super Cup between Real Madrid and Atalanta Bergamo, following contact with Aurélien Tchouaméni.
This training session took place under the watchful eye of the journalists present on site, which explains why the images of the clash circulated very quickly on Tuesday evening. RMC even captured the reaction of Carlo Ancelotti, who threw his stopwatch in anger when he saw his player on the ground, painfully injured.
The knee is affected
The images are chilling. Especially those where we see Camavinga’s leg, overhanging, crushed by Tchouaméni. The blow, of course unintentional, is delivered a little above the ankle. As his partner arrives from the side, the former Rennes player sees his leg bend in a way that is dangerous for his knee.
The first news is rather reassuring. The Madrid press indicates that the worst (a ruptured cruciate ligament, for example) has been avoided. Camavinga is simply announced as out of the Super Cup, for the moment. But the duration of his unavailability is not yet known, and a knee sprain is to be feared.
