Matthijs de Ligt is leaving Bayern Munich. At 24 and after two seasons in Germany, the central defender is preparing to join Manchester United. The Red Devils will pay €45 million, plus €5 million in bonuses to bring in the Dutchman, who signed in Bavaria for around €65 million two years ago. He has blown hot and cold at Bayern and is heading to the Premier League to relaunch under the orders of his former coach at Ajax, Erik ten Hag. The news has not yet been made official by the English club but De Ligt has published a farewell message to the Rekordmeister on his social networks.

Dear Bayern fans, I would like to thank each and every one of you for all your love and support. I spent two incredible years playing for this beautiful club. It was a true honour to have played for a club like Bayern Munich. We experienced unforgettable moments together that will remain etched in my memory forever. That is why I am leaving this club with a bittersweet taste at the same time. I will always remember the love and support I received from the players, the coaching staff and the fans. The recent petition signed by many of you particularly touched me. Thank you all. I wish Bayern to win many more titles, as Bayern has always done.»
