To succeed Pau Lopez, theOM
has called on two goalkeepers from the Dutch Championship (Eredivisie). The Dutchman Jeffrey de Lange, who until now played for the Go Ahead Eagles, officially signed last Thursday. The Marseille leaders are now waiting for the Argentinian Geronimo Rulli. The
Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper should not be long in coming to sign the contract.
The last bastion of the Albiceleste during the Olympic tournament of the Paris 2024 Games, Rulli is not however guaranteed to also be a regular in the squad led by the new coach Roberto de Zerbi. According to The Team On Sunday, the day after a Marseille victory in a friendly on the Augsburg pitch (1-3), De Lange would arrive with the status of number one second.
Simon is not very good
The 1.90m player could even make his first start next Saturday when OM travel to Brest, for the first day of Ligue 1. De Lange was able to get into shape in Augsburg, when he replaced Simon Ngapandouetnbu, the usual number 3, who was not exactly reassuring during this last match of the summer preparation.
We can therefore expect real competition between Geronimo Rulli, 32 years old (1.89m), and Jeffrey de Lange but we also know that this goalkeeper position is special. A starter must quickly emerge, if only to work and deepen the automatisms with the defenders.
