Bruno Genésio’s LOSC fulfilled its mission this Tuesday during the 3rd qualifying round first leg of the Champions League.

LOSC has one foot in the Champions League play-offs. The northern team finds itself in a favourable position in its duel against Fenerbahçe after its 2-1 success at home.

The Dogues were therefore content with a small success, but one that remains precious. It is also very tasty because it was acquired on the wire thanks to a nice goal from the returning Zhegrova. The Kosovar delivered his team with a shot from the left, after having made the difference on the right flank.

LOSC had no doubts

Lille can also thank Thiago Santos, who opened the scoring. The Portuguese defender scored in the 12th minutee minute with a slightly deflected shot. Lille could have won more widely if they had been more skillful in front of the opposing goal. Jonathan David notably missed the break point at the end of the first period, with a shot that went slightly over the bar following a corner (44e).

Regrets will still be measured, because Fenerbahçe did not deserve it. The visitors equalized with a marvelous free kick in the 80th minute.e, signed Irfan Kahveci. Edin Dzeko (31e) and Allan Saint-Maximin (50e) also had some good attempts at the tip of the foot, but they came up against an excellent Lucas Chevalier. The latter has clearly recovered well from the injury that had deprived him of participation in the Olympic Games.

Lille will now have to finish the job in a week on the banks of the Bosphorus. It won’t be a walk in the park, knowing the hot atmosphere that reigns there. But, the presence in the most beautiful of European competitions comes at this price.
