This summer, Real Madrid struck a major coup by recruiting Kylian Mbappé (25 years old). Indeed, the Frenchman arrived on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, even if he will receive a nice signing bonus as well as a good salary in Spain. The other club in the Iberian capital has also decided to buy a big name. The Colchoneros have launched their pursuit of Julian Alvarez (24 years old) to bring new blood to Diego Simeone’s squad.

Despite the competition from PSG, the Madrid players were able to find the arguments to convince the player. The presence of his compatriot Diego Simeone on the Atlético bench obviously played a role. In addition, Alvarez wanted to take on a new challenge and occupy a full-fledged starting position, something that Pep Guardiola did not offer him at City. The 2022 world champion therefore gave his agreement to join Madrid.

City and Atletico agree

But the two European giants still had to agree. Since yesterday, several pieces of information have been released on the subject. The Daily Mail mentioned a swap deal with a loan with option to buy João Félix and money in exchange for the City player. This morning, the Argentine press, in particular Oléspoke of a transfer of 80 million euros from the Colchoneros, including bonuses. In addition, it was specified that the footballer would receive 100% of his image rights.

Ultimately, this deal will close for a lot more money. The Athletic indicates that a full agreement has been reached between Manchester City and Atlético de Madrid for a transfer worth up to €95 million (including bonuses), the biggest sale by a Premier League club. While there are still some final details to be settled between Julian Alvarez and Atlético, the deal is well on track. A great catch by the Spaniards, who are responding to Real Madrid and their recruitment of Mbappé.
