The French U21 team extended its good run at the Olympic Games by winning a third match in a row in the group stage.

The Bleuets are received three out of three. This Tuesday, Thierry Henry’s selection followed up with a third success on the occasion of the 1er round of the Olympic football tournament. After the United States (3-0) and Guinea (1-0), it was New Zealand who suffered the law of the Tricolores (3-0).

This time, and unlike what had been the case during the two initial outings, the French combined art and style. They dominated the debates from one end of the game to the other and it was quite logical that they won by three goals.

The Bleuets have let loose

Their coach had nevertheless carried out a large review of the squad. There were no fewer than nine changes in the starting eleven. And it was a desire to rest the key players rather than give playing time to those who have not yet tasted the Olympics. In the end, the 18 players making up the group were all able to taste the competition.

In this game, the Bleuets made things easier for themselves by opening the score quite quickly. From the 19eJean-Philippe Mateta found the gap and scored his 1er goal of the competition. The New Zealanders did not collapse immediately. They held on until the 71ste and a second goal signed Désiré Doué. Finally, at the 71eArnaud Kalimuendo completed his team’s success and made them forget his clumsiness in the first two matches.

With this great victory, France secures first place in the group, ahead of the United States, who dominated Guinea by the same score. In the quarter-finals, Lacazette and his teammates will challenge Argentina in an electric duel. It is the Matmut Atlantique of Bordeaux that will host this clash.
