Blaugrana sporting director Deco stayed behind as Barcelona travelled to the United States for their pre-season tour, and he is attempting to allay Williams’ doubts about a move to Catalonia.
Barcelona have assured they can pay his €58m release clause, while Athletic remain confident they can keep Williams for another year.

As revealed by La Vanguardia, Williams has no intention of signing this year and is instead considering a transfer next summer. Deco would be trying to make him understand that the time has come to make the big jump.
The 22-year-old will make the decision, but there have been indications that he could stay at Athletic this summer, including a promise to play at least one season of European football with his brother Inaki Williams. Late on Sunday night, reports that Williams had turned down a move to Barcelona were not denied by his representative.
