Olympique de Marseille continues its preparation for the next season and has chained a new victory in a friendly match, this time against Pau (3-0) this Saturday, after having already beaten Toulon (3-0) last Wednesday. Lilian Brassier, recently arrived at the beginning of July from Stade Brestois, commented on his partnership with Leonardo Balerdi within the Marseille defense.
“It’s a very warm group, they welcomed me really well and it allows me to also take a place in the team, on the field, to feel comfortable. I know that the question will come so with Léo we get on really well, he’s a very great defender and I learn from him, I also observe him in training to see what I’m missing, and there you go, he’s a very good defender”said the French defender.
Brassier validates the De Zerbi method
Originally from Argenteuil, Brassier seems to appreciate his hybrid role in the system put in place by the new OM coach, Roberto De Zerbi. “It’s good because it pushes us to think individually and collectively because we want to help our partner every time, we have to position ourselves well so as not to put them in difficulty. So yes, it’s a lot of thinking and it’s good, it’s a good thing”he added.
And to conclude: “Yeah, we work day after day and week after week, we feel that we are gaining confidence and assurance. Afterwards, everything is not perfect as I have said several times, but of course we have gone from strength to strength.”
Next meeting for the Sky and White, next Saturday at Valley Parade, for the fourth preparation match against Sunderland.
