Chelsea are close to completing a deal for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
The Denmark U21 goalkeeper saw Villarreal accept a €24.5 million offer from the Blues on Saturday. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that all parties are in agreement and that Jorgensen is on his way to London to finalise the move.
A default choice for Chelsea
On this issue, the Blues were ahead of OM. The Phocéens also had their sights set on this element, but it could not compete economically with the powerful English club.
Interestingly, Jorgensen was not Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s first choice, as he wanted to lure his former Leicester City player, Mads Hermansen, back to the club.
The Foxes’ €50 million estimate was deemed too high by Chelsea’s management, which is why they turned to the Scandinavian goalkeeper.
