Matthaus calls for Bayern executive to leave
Bayern and German football legend Lothar Matthaus has been very harsh on a Munich defender.

Bayern Munich boss Lothar Matthäus expects Matthijs de Ligt to be sold this summer, believing he is no longer indispensable to the team.

De Ligt is the subject of keen interest from Manchester United, who saw their second bid for the Dutchman rejected this week. With the 1990 Ballon d’Or winner in mind, Bayern must not insist on holding on to their centre-back.

Matthaus also attacks Hoeness

Matthäus told Sky Deutschland: “The team is big and expensive. De Ligt knows what’s going on and Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and their agents can read the newspapers.” Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness also said he could see De Ligt joining United.

Matthäus added: “He (Hoeness) is the founder of the club, he has every right to express himself. But that often causes discomfort.”
