Racist chants: Argentine president calls for calm

Argentine President Javier Milei has called for calm after the incident of racist chants on the Albiceleste bus. Speaking on Argentine radio, President Milei made an unexpected statement, targeting his vice-president Victoria Villaruel who had attacked France on social media. “It was not a very happy tweet because from a sporting problem, you cannot create an institutional disorder in diplomatic terms”the Argentine head of state was keen to point out.

On the brink of the Franco-Argentine diplomatic incident, Javier Milei sent his sister, Karina Milei, secretary general of the presidency, to present his apologies to the French ambassador to Argentina. “It was Kari who took care of it. The French were angry. Sporting problems have to be solved at the sporting level. That’s all there is to it. But these things happen.”explained Milei, trying to ease the tension.
