After fourteen years at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema decided to change air. The 2022 Ballon d’Or then made the choice, to everyone’s surprise, to join Saudi Arabia and the Al-Ittihad club, where he experienced a complicated first season between injuries and problems with his coach Marcelo Gallardo and the supporters, who notably criticized him for his lack of investment.
Keen to come back stronger next season, Karim Benzema spoke at length in the columns of Marca. While he discussed his ambitions with his club, the “Nueve” also returned to his departure from Real Madrid. A departure he does not regret.
Benzema: “It was the moment”
“Some come and some go.t, Benzema confided. That’s how it is and it will always happen. It was the moment. Of course, I look back and feel joy. Last season they gave a feeling of power, of good football and that’s why they won the Champions League and La Liga. To this day, I don’t see another team that could be better than Real Madrid.”
And the 36-year-old French striker once again praised the Casa Blanca: “I just don’t see a team that can be better than Real Madrid. Really. They have everything. Players, coach and president.”
