After its draw against Poland, France can come across four different selections in the round of 16.

The French team failed to secure first place in its group by sharing honors with Poland this Tuesday (1-1). The victory against Austria therefore condemned them to second place.

France set for Wednesday

With this ranking, the Blues find themselves in the worst part of the table. Their round of 16 will be held next Monday in Dusseldorf.

Against which opponent? The mystery has not yet been solved. It is only tomorrow that Deschamps’ men will know the identity. It will come from Group E.

Portugal in quarters?

It will be either Belgium, or Slovakia, or Ukraine, or Romania. These selections all have 3 points on their scoreboard. And it is the team which finishes second in this group which will therefore have the honor of competing against the vice-world champions. “We have to appreciate what we have done. We are qualified. At least we know when we will play. The first objective has been achieved. A new competition begins,” declared Didier Deschamps.

If they get past the 8th round, the Blues then have a good chance of falling on Portugal, who finished first in their group.
