One injured, match stopped after 20 minutes, fiasco before the 2023 World Cup

Friday’s friendly between the Republic of Ireland and Colombia didn’t last long. Too much commitment and everyone went home.

While the France team faced Australia for its last preparation match for the 2023 World Cup (1-0 defeat), another friendly match took place this Friday with an opposition between the Republic of Ireland and Colombia. . But between these two teams, things didn’t really go as planned. Result: after barely twenty-three minutes of play in the first period, the referee indicated that the match was over.

The match was being played behind closed doors, and while the press was expected to be able to attend, Colombia requested that this not be the case. The kick-off was therefore given and the game went on until the famous twenty-third minute and a blow received by Denise O’Sullivan. Both nations will participate in the 2023 World Cup. Colombia will play their first match on July 25 against South Korea, while the Republic of Ireland will play Australia on July 20.
