Since the end of the season, PSG have had a turbulent summer. In addition to the Kylian Mbappé file which takes up a large part of the Parisian news, the capital club has long had to look into the coach’s file. With the certain departure of Christophe Galtier, Paris has long dreamed of bringing in the Nagelsmann-Henry duo. But after weeks of negotiations, PSG finally opted for Luis Enrique, free since his departure from La Roja after elimination in the round of 16 of the World Cup against Morocco.

The former Barça technician had to wait several weeks before being formalized since PSG could not yet agree with Galtier for the departure. Finally, last Wednesday, the club formalized the arrival of the Spanish technician. A week after his debut, Luis Enrique gave an interview to the official PSG website to discuss in particular what convinced him to join the club. “The main reason is that the leaders have a very clear idea of the team they want to build, the project they want to build based on the resources available to PSG. And I’m not just talking about economic resources, I’m also thinking about resources in terms of infrastructure. From there, I think that this project brings together everything that is necessary for a coach of my level.

The desire to make amends with the supporters

Luis Enrique also knows that he will be expected above all in terms of play. Last season, PSG long offered a stereotypical game dependent on Kylian Mbappé and with insufficient domination. The Spanish technician promises a show this season. “I think everyone who has seen my teams play knows a bit about my ideas. I am clearly an offensive coach. With my staff, we want a team that plays from the first minute, a team that does not calculate and attacks. We want our fans to have fun and the players to have fun representing Paris Saint-Germain.” he confided.

The former Roma coach also intends to put the club back at the top and allow the supporters to find a certain attachment to the team. “My goal is for Paris Saint-Germain supporters to be proud of their team, to be proud of what they see on the pitch, to enjoy the show. And they will appreciate it if they see effort, work, a team that attacks well and defends well, a team that plays together, a united group. If they like it, and I’m sure they do, then they’ll be proud of their team. » The challenge is great for a team that has regularly disappointed fans in recent years. But Luis Enrique loves challenges.
