Luis Enrique has made a strong decision about Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s undisputed starting goalkeeper since his arrival in 2021, could see his status called into question. The arrival of Matveï Safonov, from FK Krasnodar, should first bring him new competition, in parallel with the expected departure of Keylor Navas at the end of his contract. Indeed, the Russian international goalkeeper has already passed his medical examination on May 28 and should commit to the capital club for a contract until June 2029.

But that’s not all. According to The Team, coach Luis Enrique also plans to shake up the goalkeeper hierarchy from next season. The Spanish technician wants to abolish the substitute goalkeeper system.

Donnarumma disagrees

However, this choice of Lucho would not please Donnarumma. The Italian believes that a certain stability is necessary in his position to maintain his best level of performance.

Under contract until June 2026 with PSG, the former AC Milan member has played 42 matches in all competitions this season, for as many starts.
