Luciano Spalletti, Italy coach, records a major withdrawal two weeks before the start of Euro 2024.
Despite his absence from the last two World Cups (Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022), theItaly will approach Euro 2024 with good odds since the Nazionale is the defending champion for this continental tournament.
Luciano Spalletti is, however, aware of not having a bloated workforce since taking office to replace Roberto Mancini. And the former Naples coach will still have additional headaches since an important element has withdrawn from the competition.
Spalletti puts things into perspective: “we have everything we need to do something good”
The Italy coach indicated this Friday that Fracesco Acerbi would be missing for this European Nations Championship. The Inter Milan defender is in the infirmary because of pubalgia.
“We are losing an experienced player who was part of an Inter defensive block where everyone knew each other well”explained Spalletti at a press conference. “But a selection is different from a club, you can find what you need elsewhere. We would start this gathering badly if we only focused on those who were absent, we have everything we need to do something good,” Spalletti put things into perspective.
