PSG can fear the worst in its new standoff with Kylian Mbappé

Even for his departure from PSG, Kylian Mbappé is the protagonist of a new soap opera. The Team claimed in its edition this morning that PSG had started a new standoff with him. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi could not stand in February when his striker announced his future as a starter at the end of the season. The club boss then gave the player preferential treatment with a partial ban. Since then, Luis Enrique has continued to use the world champion sparingly. Mbappé is certain, the Spaniard is commanded by his management.

The star will leave at the end of his contract with Real Madrid, free of any contract. PSG will make a huge salary saving but will not receive a single euro in this movement either. A real affront for the Parisian president. He still managed last summer to negotiate the elimination of the famous bonus of €80 million in exchange for the reintegration of the Frenchman into the workforce. If this check was not signed in October as initially planned, it arrived in the player’s accounts in February, just after Mbappé warned NAK of his departure.

A real risk for the PSG transfer window

This curious decision was motivated by the fact that Real Madrid would have undertaken to reimburse this sum, according to those around Al-Khelaïfi. Of course, the Spanish club does not intend to move one iota… Between Mbappé’s false start in the summer of 2021 and the Super League, relations between the presidents of the two clubs are polar. As indicated by L’Equipe, PSG is trying to recover this money by not paying the salaries of March and April to its top scorer. A very risky decision as the FIFA texts explain.

PSG has 30 days to catch up. Otherwise, Kylian Mbappé will have to send a formal notice to his employer who will offer a period of two weeks to settle his obligations, according to rule 14 bis. After this period, the player concerned may be entitled to terminate his contract. The next step would go even further because it would be necessary to refer the matter to the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber. This can decide on various sanctions such as a warning, a fine or much worse: a ban on registering new players during several transfer windows.

A range of sanctions is possible

All these sanctions are also cumulative. It is difficult to see PSG putting itself in the red in the medium term for such a story. On Mbappé’s side, a final request is possible regardless of the outcome of this story. With article 17 relating to the status and transfer of players, the payment of compensation is entirely possible. The amount of this would then depend on several factors such as whether or not you have signed a new contract elsewhere. Depending on the seriousness of the facts and in addition to the compensation, the player would obtain between three months and six months’ salary. PSG knows what to expect.
