Whatever happens on Saturday night at Wembley, Borussia Dortmund’s season will be a success. If German fans were undoubtedly hoping for a revolt from their team on the national scene, a year after being beaten on the final day of the Bundesliga by Bayern Munich, they did not get what they wanted, but better and more unexpected: a Champions League final against Real Madrid. But the club’s leaders do not intend to stop there and are already active on the transfer market. It is for this reason that Lars Ricken was promoted to general manager in charge of sports at the club in recent weeks, and that Sven Minslintat returned to Dortmund at the beginning of May, six years after his departure.

Today, the two men work together and alongside sporting director Sebastian Kehl to plan for next season. According to BILD, one arrival is even already lined up: that of the German international Waldemar Anton. Author of an exceptional season in Stuttgart, second in the Bundesliga and qualified for the Champions League, the 27-year-old defender will cost the Ruhr club 22.5 million euros. A significant sum, but which should be offset fairly quickly by the revenue and bonuses linked to Dortmund’s performance in C1 this season (more than 100 million euros). BILD adds that the Mats Hummels file should take a back seat, but that to date, no reason should prevent it from being extended for another year. Concerning Niklas Süle, questions are multiplying, particularly regarding his physical condition. Ian Maatsen should commit permanently to Dortmund.

In attack, movement to be expected

But today, it is in attack that the challenge is colossal for Dortmund. According to BILD, Youssoufa Moukoko should leave the club. Called to become the future star of the Marspupiaux, the 19-year-old striker is struggling to establish himself and is harboring more and more doubts internally about his potential. For the moment, no concrete, precise approach BILD. Sébastien Haller, who only participated in 388 minutes of play in the Bundesliga this season, nevertheless contributed to his club’s epic in the Champions League, notably thanks to his goal against Atlético de Madrid on the return leg. Enough to make him an untouchable player? No, because even Niclas Füllkrug, executioner of PSG in the C1 semi-final, will not be accepted in the event of a tempting offer. Dortmund today wants to rely on a striker capable of scoring more than 20 goals per season (Moukoko, Haller and Füllkrug total 17 in the Bundesliga between them).

In this sense, Sehrou Guirassy is today one of the club’s priorities, after a stunning season for Stuttgart (28 goals in the Bundesliga). But we will have to face fierce competition from AC Milan, also on the file as we revealed to you recently, and ready to lift the Guinean’s 18 million euro clause. Today, the other track which is gaining momentum in Germany leads to another former Ligue 1 player: Jean-Philippe Mateta. Author of 16 goals and 5 assists in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, where he is under contract until 2026, the former Lyonnais is very popular. An expensive investment, which should exceed the 20 million euros mark if it materializes, but easily payable since Dortmund should still benefit from bonuses linked to the transfers of Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham this summer.
