Jude Bellingham had an exceptional first season in Spain. And he was rightly rewarded for it. This Tuesday, the Englishman was elected player of the year in La Liga. A more than deserved recognition.

Arriving from Dortmund last summer, Bellingham adapted very quickly to Spanish football. His debut was even breathtaking on a statistical level. In the end, he finished the campaign with 19 goals scored and 6 assists offered. The Pichichi title narrowly escaped him. The last Merengue recruit to have been so effective upon his arrival in Iberia was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009/2010 (26 goals and 7 assists).

Bellingham carried Real

If Real went to win the title, they owe it largely to him. Bellingham was notably decisive during the ultra-tight matches against Barça and Getafe.

The England international’s season can be even more unforgettable. Next Saturday, he and his teammates will try to conquer the Champions League at Wembley against his former club BVB.
