A former great Italian coach believes that AC Milan made a huge mistake by parting ways with their current coach Stefano Pioli.
Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli believes AC Milan will regret letting Stefano Pioli leave.
The Rossoneri have decided to fire the coach who gave them the Scudetto a year ago. In his place, they should appoint Paulo Fonseca. A choice which does not please local fans very much.
Did Milan make a mistake with Pioli?
“For me, they did a terrible thing by making Stefano Pioli leave. In five years, he showed that he was serious, competent, that he had won a Scudetto and that he knew how to get the best out of many players.Prandelli told Radio Anch’io Sport.
The former boss of the Squadra also found mitigating circumstances in the half-baked campaign of the Lombard team : “This year he had a season with many injuries and many physical problems with the players. I would definitely have kept Pioli.”
To conclude, Prandelli still recognized that Inter’s rival made a fine champion: “The season was interesting in many ways: Inter dominated and deserved this championship, it had continuity, mentality, the ability to maintain the goal of winning the Scudetto at certain times of the season. Many teams fought for the title.”
