Barely three days after the end of the European seasons, the France team meets this Wednesday in Clairefontaine to begin preparation for Euro 2024 in Germany (June 14-July 14). Kylian Mbappé and his teammates are expected from 11 a.m. by Didier Deschamps at the famous castle of the National Football Center, three-quarters of an hour southwest of Paris. The FFF has in fact communicated the program for preparing the Blues for the next European Nations Championship.
The coach will give his very first press conference in the afternoon (2:30 p.m.), before a first training session with 20 players (5:30 p.m.). The three finalists of the Champions League with Real Madrid, Ferland Mendy, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, who challenge Dortmund on Saturday at Wembley, but also Théo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud, who went on tour to Australia with AC Milan ( Mike Maignan was excused from this trip), will miss the first five days of the gathering.
When will we leave for Germany?
The French team will “offer” training sessions open to the public on Thursday and Sunday and, each day, two internationals will appear at a press conference. Tuesday June 4, the French selection will travel to Metz, on the eve of the first preparation match against Luxembourg, Wednesday June 5, at the Stade Saint-Symphorien (9 p.m.). Deschamps’ players will return to Clairefontaine immediately after the match for two days of training. Saturday June 8, they will travel to Bordeaux on the eve of France-Canada (9:15 p.m.).
Teams participating in Euro 2024 must move into their base camp in Germany no later than five days before their first match. The Blues will therefore have to pack their bags in Paderborn on Wednesday June 12, in order to prepare for their first match against Austria, the following Monday. The 2022 world vice-champions (and N’Golo Kanté) will face the Netherlands four days later, for the shock of this group D, before finishing against Poland on June 25. Objective: first place in the group.
