Lothar Matthaus, one of the legends of German football, has given his opinion on the appointment of Hansi Flick as head of Barça.
Lothar Matthäus, one of the icons of German football, believes that Hansi Flick would be the ideal coach for FC Barcelona. He even sees him following in the footsteps of the illustrious Pep Guardiola.
Flick is expected to be named Barca’s new coach in the coming days. He would thus succeed Xavi. The German technician has never coached abroad but that does not prevent his compatriot from being certain of his success at Camp Nou.
Matthaus valid for Flick
“Hansi (Flick)’s style suits Barcelona,” Matthäus told BILD. “With (Pep) Guardiola, Barcelona were spectacular and played fantastic football. With Hansi, they can rediscover this magic.”
Xavi said goodbye to Barça on Sunday by winning the last match of the season against Sevilla. He leaves the Blaugrana after a two-year experience, marked by the conquest of the champion title in 2023 but also a tumble in the process and an imbroglio with its president Joan Laporta.
