Real Madrid veteran Lucas Vazquez will sign a one-year extension next month.
Vazquez is part of a group of experienced players who must decide their future at Madrid as several contracts expire in June. Vazquez is one of Carlo Ancelotti’s favorites, with his experience and ability to cover multiple positions seen as essential by the Italian coach.
Real Madrid are confident that Vazquez will accept the club’s standard offer of an additional 12 months, in line with the club’s policy regarding players aged over 30. According to the latest information from Marca, the two parties have agreed on a renewal, to extend his link with Madrid for up to ten seasons.
Standard offer from Real for Vazquez
With the Champions League final in focus, the announcement will be delayed, but Vazquez has made his decision. His form at the end of the season also opened up the possibility of joining Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish selection for Euro 2024.
De la Fuente will retain Dani Carvajal, Vazquez’s Los Blancos teammate, as first choice at right-back, but he could foresee a reinforcement in this position. Real’s veterans have played a crucial role in the club’s campaign this season. As a reminder, Toni Kroos has decided to retire at the end of a successful season.
