The fallout from Toni Kroos’ shock retirement announcement continues.

Real Madrid are very sad to lose their German midfield maestro at the end of the season, because despite being 34 years old, he continues to be a vital cog in Carlo Ancelotti’s machine.

Real Madrid are not planning to replace Kroos, with Eduardo Camavinga seen as the obvious successor. That hasn’t stopped club officials from admiring potential candidates for the job.

Rodri targeted by Real Madrid

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid are considering two names as ideal replacements for Kroos. The first is Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, who could be available on the cheap this summer if he doesn’t sign a new contract (his current contract ends at the end of next season). The second that the Whites like is Manchester City’s Rodri Hernandez, but there is no chance of signing him as the Premier League champions consider the Spanish center untouchable.

It is therefore logical that Real Madrid count on Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouameni to fill the void left by Kroos. The task will certainly be difficult, but the club’s leaders are confident.
