FIFA revealed on Thursday the amount of prize money paid to clubs whose players participated in the 2022 World Cup.
FIFA goes to the checkout. Seven months after the final of the 2022 World Cup, won by Lionel Messi and Argentina against the France team (3-3, 4 tab 2), the international football federation revealed on Thursday the amount of the endowments paid to the clubs whose players were in Qatar. A nice jackpot for some of them!
The overall envelope, which amounts to 209 million dollars (or 187 million euros), is divided between 440 teams around the world, each receiving 9,800 euros per player and per day of attendance at the World Cup. A redistribution that allows Manchester City, the best-off club, to recover a small check for 4.12 million euros.

Other European top names follow, such as FC Barcelona (€4m), Bayern Munich (€3.8m) and Real Madrid (€3.4m). In France, where 27 teams shared 15 million euros, it was PSG which received the highest bonus with 3.4 million euros, ahead of OM (1.8 M€), Monaco ( €1.6 million), Rennes (€1.4 million) and Lyon (€725,000).
Avranches can thank Ounahi
But the “big guys” are not the only ones to benefit from this program. Resident of National 1, the US Avranches has for example also been rewarded! The Norman club actually received nearly 115,000 euros thanks to Azzedine Ounahi’s exceptional career with Morocco, beaten by the Blues in the semi-finals of the competition (0-2).
The device provides that a selected player allows the clubs which employed him during the two previous seasons to be compensated. A boon for this team from the Channel, where the OM midfielder played in 2020-2021, but also for other small foreign clubs. Like Boreham Wood, who is struggling in the English fifth division (28,000 euros).
