Followed by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, the Brazilian player greeted the Newcastle supporters in a heartfelt manner, which put a piece back into the media machine across the Channel.
Newcastle coach Eddie Howe wanted to calm things down: “I don’t think this is a sign of goodbye. Bruno probably does this several times, but it can be interpreted in a way that people watching decide that is the case. I hope that’s not the case. He’s an integral part of what we do and he’s an inspirational player, we desperately need to keep him.”
