Three days before the end of the championship, AC Milan hosted the Sardinians from Cagliari at San Siro. For what appears to be his last matches on the Milan bench, Stefano Pioli relied on an attack made up of Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud. More realistically, the Rossoneri opened the scoring thanks to Ismael Bennacer, author of his first goal of the season. In the second half, it was the substitutes who energized the game.

Rafael Leão, first decisive passer for Christian Pulisic after a solitary raid, then increased the score by scoring himself thanks to a goal after a hook on the goalkeeper. Dutchman Tijjani Reijnders also contributed by scoring a goal. In the end, AC Milan won five goals to one against Cagliari, despite a reduction in the score from Nahitan Nandez. This comfortable victory ensures the Milanese their second place in the championship. For Cagliari, the season is far from over. Although they are still three points ahead of the relegation zone, the last two matches (against Sassuolo and Fiorentina) will be decisive in the quest for maintenance.
