Arsenal are looking to sign a striker this summer and two names are said to be on their list of transfer candidates.
Arsenal narrowly missed out on the Premier League title this season, but the team are looking to end their suffering quickly and prepare for next season. Mikel Arteta has therefore asked the club to recruit a striker as a priority before the start of the pre-season tour.
According to The Independent, the two names high on Arsenal’s candidate list are Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Brian Brobbey (Ajax). Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres is also on the list of candidates, but Chelsea are present with force in this file.
Isak targeted by the Gunners
As for Isak’s situation, the Gunners know that Newcastle might not want to sell the Swede this summer and are therefore preparing other options. During the January transfer window, Arsenal attempted to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford to bolster their goalscoring abilities, but the club were baffled by the Bees’ asking price of £100 million and therefore decided to move on to other targets, and he is unlikely to target him again this summer.
The Gunners begin their pre-season on July 27 in the United States against Manchester United and Arteta hopes the club can confirm the signing of a striker before then.
