This summer, the Madrilenians could turn to a new defender and seem to have found a target.
Last week it was widely reported that Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez would leave the club at the end of the season, having made the decision not to sign a new contract, despite being offered a lease . The 34-year-old will leave this summer on a free, ending his 23-year stint with Los Blancos.
With Real Madrid only having Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba as natural central defenders in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, a replacement will have to be found. Rafa Marin, currently on loan at Alaves, is expected to fill that role, but the Madrid side could turn to a new defender.
Yoro forgotten?
According to Bild, Real Madrid are interested in AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw. The 22-year-old, whose market value stands at €30 million, has grown in stature since joining the Rossoneri in 2022, and is seen as a clear starter.
Real Madrid are said to be “very interested” in Thiaw. He could be an excellent reinforcement for Ancelotti’s side and, although he fits the club’s recruitment policy, it seems a more likely arrival would be that of Lille’s Leny Yoro, if the Whites do indeed try to recruit a central defender this summer.
