After a season where the departure of Luka Modric seemed inevitable, it seems that the Croatian wants to stay at the club for one more season.
The 38-year-old is still capable of excellent performances, but many predicted his departure as he was relegated to the bench for much of the season.
Modric started the Clasico on Sunday evening and rose to the occasion, moving the ball with his usual calm and finding gaps in the opposition’s midfield.
Modric wants to stay!
According to Diario AS, Modric wants to extend his contract for another year. According to the newspaper, his recent performances have shown that he has not given up on winning a starting place or landing a new lease.
Prior to this, it was said that Modric was still considering his decision, but it would be understandable if the euphoria generated by Real Madrid’s Champions League and La Liga campaign had prompted Modric to continue. It would be difficult to leave Real Madrid anyway, but doing so when it’s so enjoyable to play there is even harder.
