Four days after feeling unwell with the French women's team, Wendie Renard played in the second match of the women's Euro 2025 qualifiers and scored the winning goal in Sweden on Tuesday (2-0).
Placed in a group of death, the French women's team scored a second victory to begin the Euro 2025 qualifiers. The Blues won again 1-0, this time against Sweden, Tuesday in Gothenburg, four days after beating Ireland in Metz. Two important results before facing England twice!
It was Wendie Renard who saved Hervé Renard's team, three days after feeling unwell when she came on against the Irish… Everything is going well for the captain. While Eugénie Le Sommer and Kadidiatou Diani, associated in front, did not complete their actions, the 1.87 m defender shook the net 10 minutes from the end (81st), on a delivery from Marie -Antoinette Katoto (entered the game despite her goal last Friday).
Two finals against England
The French internationals meet at the end of May for the two clashes against the Lionesses (May 31 in Newcastle, June 4 in Saint-Etienne). Before concluding these qualifiers in mid-July, against Sweden then in Ireland, nine days before the women's football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In these qualifiers for the next Women's Euro organized in Switzerland, the first two in each group will qualify, while the third and fourth in League A will play in the play-offs (these qualifications being modeled on the Nations League).
