Arriving at the Olympique de Marseille training center in 2011, Iliman Ndiaye had to quickly leave the latter to follow his family to Senegal. It was in 2011. But since then, the 23-year-old player has never forgotten the Marseille club. “Since I was very young, I have loved OM. The first jersey my father bought me was this one. When I was little, my father suggested that I go for tests at PSG or Marseille. I said direct OM! I played there for a year, it’s a club that I always carry in my heart. I watch all their matches, I hope they will qualify for the Champions League.had rightly declared the Sheffield United player during a recent interview with SoFoot.

Iliman Ndiaye had even opened the door to a return to Olympique de Marseille during this interview. “They look like they have a good project, the president (Pablo Longoria) has been doing a good job since he’s been here. Why not one day !”, had notably launched the native of Rouen. And that day may well come sooner than expected. Indeed, while his profile already interested several Premier League teams, the Marseille club also targeted the Franco-Senegalese striker to recruit him during this summer transfer window, as we announced to you recently. If exchanges have even already taken place between the different parties, the Olympian leaders could have made a decisive step forward in this file.

Agreement in principle between Iliman Ndiaye and Olympique de Marseille

If Premier League teams have almost unlimited cash compared to clubs that play in the elite of French football, Olympique de Marseille have managed to take over the competition for Iliman Ndiaye. The latter was obviously very receptive to the interest shown by the leaders of the Marseille team since an agreement in principle was also reached between the Sheffield United player and the residents of the Orange Vélodrome on the basis of a five-year lease. Under contract until June 2024 with the English team, the versatile attacker could therefore quickly pack his bags to join Marseille even if one last detail must first be settled before he can get carried away completely.

The leaders of Olympique de Marseille must indeed first reach an agreement with their counterparts at Sheffield United regarding the transfer fee. If Iliman Ndiaye was one of the main players in the rise of the English club, which played in the Championship last season, in the Premier League next year, with in particular 14 achievements and 11 assists in 46 games played in the antechamber of English football, owners are unlikely to retain the 23-year-old. The door is therefore wide open for Pablo Longoria who risks making a big splash on the transfer market with his recruitment. To be continued…
