Like Everton, Nottingham Forest was also penalized with a withdrawal of points, in this case four. The English club broke the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. This means that Nottingham was very active in the transfer window, recruiting almost their entire typical team last summer.

The newspaper The Telegraph indicates that the club could have been penalized by two additional points, but it avoided this sanction thanks to “exceptional cooperation”. Nottingham commented on this sanction. “The commission's reasoning is that clubs should only invest after making a profit on the development of their players”explained Forest first, before pointing the finger at the regulations.“This reasoning destroys mobility in the football pyramid and the decision will have the effect of considerably reducing the room for maneuver of all these clubs, which will lead to the stagnation of our national football”.
